Hello, and thank you for visiting my website!

My name is Dee, but the children in Africa call me Jajjaa, which means grandmother. I love that name because it describes better who I am. I have nine grandchildren, eight boys, and one girl. But I have other children I love all around the world and especially Africa, because of my many travels to Uganda. I have even adopted the name ‘JaJa’ as my company name.

I have been to twenty-nine countries and thirty-six of the fifty states. How’s that for adventure! Today, I live in Virginia with my husband. We have five grown daughters and all those grandchildren who keep us very busy.

Writing is what I love to do most. I am writing adventure stories for ages ten and up. Many of these stories include information from my travels or people I’ve met from other countries. I am just beginning to publish my stories, so check back often to see what new ones are available. My first book ‘Zoo at School’ received the Kops-Fetherling International Book Award Bronze for 2020. While I was growing up, my father was in the military, so we moved a lot. I attended six elementary schools, two middle schools, and five high schools. Boy was it hard to make and keep friends. Eventually, I ended up in Virginia, where I have been since 1979.

Here is where I married my husband, raised my children, and was involved in many careers. I finished my degree in Accounting, but I wanted to write. I worked in public and private schools as a teacher and principal. I was a children’s ministry leader in my church and a part-time missionary.

Talk about a busy life! I have written skits, productions, weekend retreats for girls, devotionals, and now I love writing adventure books. When I’m not writing, my husband and I walk, hike, travel, and spend time with the family.
