Hello, and thank you for visiting my website!

My name is Dee, but the children in Africa call me Jajjaa, which means grandmother. I love that name because it better describes who I am. I have eleven grandchildren, eight boys, and three girls. But I have other children I love worldwide, especially Africa, because of my many travels to Uganda. I have even adopted the name ‘JaJa’ as my c” as my company name.

I have traveled to twenty-nine countries and thirty-six of the fifty states. How’s that for adventure? Today, I live in Virginia with my husband. We have five grown daughters and many grandchildren who keep us very busy.

Writing is my greatest passion. I create adventure stories for readers ages eight and up. Many of these stories are inspired by my travels and the people I’ve met from different countries. I am just starting to publish my stories, so check back often for new releases. My first book, "Zoo at School," received the Kops-Fetherling International Book Award Bronze in 2020. While I was growing up, my father served in the military, which meant we moved frequently. Over the years, I attended six elementary schools, two middle schools, and five high schools. It was challenging to make and maintain friendships during that time. Eventually, I settled in Virginia, where I have lived since 1979.

I married my husband, raised my children, and pursued various careers in Virginia. I graduated with a degree in Accounting, but my true passion was writing. I worked as a teacher and principal in public and private schools, served as a children's ministry leader at my church, and participated in part-time missionary work.

What a busy life I have! I have written skits, full stage productions, weekend retreats for girls, and spiritual devotionals. Now, I am excited about writing adventure books. When I’m not writing, my husband and I enjoy walking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family.
